Gallery Advancing plans for a startup campus in The District

On November 17th SBD hosted a business reception to bring together an inspiring mix of local businesses and public representatives to explore the need — and the huge potential — for establishing a start-up campus in The District.

We heard from Sandyford Business District’s CEO Ger Corbett, who outlined the vision for an innovation campus centred on:

• Fostering Innovation

• Supporting Local Businesses

• Driving Economic Growth

• Strengthening Community & Networking

This was followed by contributions from Graham Colclough (Urban DNA) and Ryan McHenry (Three Mast Group), who highlighted the strategic importance of this initiative and encouraged attendees to share their perspectives.

We also extend our gratitude to An Cathaoirleach Cllr. Jim Gildea, who opened the event and reinforced SBD’s position as a prime location for innovation.

We were honoured to welcome:

· Edward Sharp Walsh, Ambassador of the United States of America to Ireland

· H.E. Lahcen Mahraoui, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Ireland

· Mr. Humaid Al Naqbi, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of the UAE lin)

· Ira Haltia, Embassy of Finland

We also acknowledge the continued support of Deputy Shay Brennan TD, who recently highlighted in the Dáil the opportunity to establish a major digital innovation campus in Sandyford Business District — comparable to global leaders such as STATION F in Paris.

Thank you to Deputy Maeve O’Connell, Leas Cathaoirleach Cllr. Pierce Dargan, Cllr. Jim O’Leary, Cllr. Fiona Murray, and Cllr. Frank MacNamara for joining us, along with Frank Curran, Chief Executive of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, and Joe Lynam from Newstalk

We were pleased to be joined by our academic partners from NovaUCD and Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, including Liam Cronin, Director of Innovation in UCD

We extend our thanks to Melanie McCourt and Jordan Killen of Polestar Dublin for providing such an exceptional venue.

Guests enjoyed excellent hospitality from Knights Catering, China Sichuan Restaurant and Mitchell & Son Wine Merchants , with AV support from Leo McBride of DigitalX Ireland Ltd.

Last night’s reception highlighted the shared vision and collaboration driving plans for a start-up campus in The District. With the support of our partners, we look forward to creating a hub that fosters innovation, growth, and community.

Together, we are shaping The District’s innovative future.
