EABID Launches in Brussels to Unite Europe’s Innovation Districts and Drive Global Competitiveness
Following a highly successful trip to New York, it was on to Brussels for the launch of EABID – the European Association of Business Innovation Districts - co-founded by Sandyford Business District.
The initiative began in Oviedo in November 2024 during a conversation SBD CEO,Ger Corbett had with Diego Romá Bohorques and was formally launched 16 months later at the Microsoft Innovation Hub in Brussels.
The event brought together cities, business districts and EU dignitaries including Ambassador Antonio and MEP Regina Doherty. An interim board was appointed, with Pablo García-Vigón González as President, Tiago Sousa Dias as Secretary General, and Ger Corbett will serve as CEO representing Sandyford Business District.
EABID aims to connect and align innovation districts across Europe, strengthening competitiveness, driving innovation, supporting business growth and attracting international investment, while enabling resilience and opportunity across the EU and beyond.
