TD and Councillor Briefing Session May 12th
Sandyford Business District Briefing Session for TDs and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Councillors: May 12th, 2025
This morning, we were pleased to host another engaging briefing session for TDs and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Councillors.
A sincere thank you to An Cathaoirleach Jim O’Leary, An Leas Chathaoirleach Kazi Ahmed, Deputy Shay Brennan TD, Deputy Sinéad Gibney TD, and the many DLRCC Councillors who actively participated in the discussion.
The meeting began with an update from Ronan Herron Digital Strategy Officer DLRCC on the Sandyford Pedal Pulse Project – part of a broader initiative by SBD to support sustainable transport. With over 160 participants, this project is helping to transform cycling in the area through the innovative use of smart bike lights.
Following this, SBD CEO Ger Corbett provided key updates and insights on our recent activities and priorities for The District.
· SBD’s recent Trade Mission to Morocco with DLRCC (An Cathaoirleach Cllr Jim O’Leary & CEO Frank Curran) and local business leaders — a major milestone was the signing of an MOU between SBD and Casablanca Finance City, strengthening international ties.
· A recap of the SBD Tariff Briefing (held on May 1st) with the keynote address by Neale Richmond TD, Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora and featured a panel of subject matter experts Daniel Mulhall, former Ambassador, Carol Boyne Lynch, Tax Partner, BDO and Terence Deacon, Senior Investment Consultant, Zurich
Ger Corbett also stressed the importance of continued collaboration and the focus on strategic priorities:
• Sandyford Urban Framework Plan
• A potential community centre in partnership with Imaginosity
• Public access to the Stillorgan Reservoir
• Junction 14 and Cycle Lanes – both targeted to begin in Q3
We also reflected on last week’s hugely successful SBD Wellness Week, and invited attendees to support our upcoming Charity Fun Walk on May 28th at Leopardstown Racecourse. All proceeds will benefit four local charities based in The District.
