Doing Business in Hong Kong - Highlights

What does it take for an Irish business to succeed in Hong Kong and the wider Asia-Pacific region?

That was the focus of Doing Business in Hong Kong, co-hosted by Sandyford Business District at Leopardstown Racecourse last Thursday.

But the discussion also highlighted something equally important: local knowledge and connections matter.

From accessing supports and understanding the market, to navigating the practical realities of establishing a presence, there is real value in hearing from those who have already done it.

We heard from an excellent line-up of speakers:

Paul Leung – Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office
Jordan Y. – Hong Kong Trade Development Council
Ger Corbett – CEO, Sandyford Business District
Michael Browne - Enterprise Ireland
Marco Purificato – Hawksford, who joined us from Hong Kong
Fernando de la Cal González and Paula Kant – Invest Hong Kong Brussels

We were also delighted to welcome Cathaoirleach Cllr Cllr Barry Saul and Deputy Shay Brennan TD Brennan, who gave the opening address.

What made the afternoon particularly valuable was the combination of expert insight and real-world experience, with contributions from businesses in the audience adding another perspective to the conversation.

Three themes stood out:

The Greater Bay Area offers significant opportunities for international expansion.

Irish and Hong Kong-based supports can help businesses innovate, expand and grow.

Nothing replaces first-hand experience and strong connections on the ground.

A sincere thank you to Invest Hong Kong Brussels and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels for bringing such valuable expertise to the district and to all our speakers, contributors and attendees for making the event such an engaging discussion.

International connections create new opportunities and Sandyford Business District is proud to help create those connections.
