Have your say: Shaping Sandyford Civic Park

We are inviting local businesses, employees and residents to take part in the planning process for the proposed Sandyford Civic Park and add your voice to the design of a transformational new public space at the junction of Corrig Road and Carmanhall Road.

Wednesday 1st July
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
The Concierge Building, Blackthorn Road, D18 R6C5

About the project

Sandyford Civic Park is a major collaborative initiative between Sandyford Business District and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, part funded under the Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) programme. Interreg NWE is a European Territorial Cooperation programme financed by the European Regional Development Fund aiming to support a balanced development across the North West Europe area, making all regions more resilient and contributing to a better quality of life and well-being of all NWE citizens.
The project will transform approximately 2 acres into a vibrant civic park for everyone who works in, lives in and visits the district.

Strategically located at a key junction, it will strengthen the area’s identity while helping address urban climate challenges such as heat stress and surface water management.

Why this matters

As the district evolves, balancing development with green infrastructure is essential. This park will help create a more liveable, resilient and attractive district by:

  • Increasing footfall and supporting local businesses
  • Enhancing wellbeing through accessible green space
  • Reducing urban heat stress through trees and planting
  • Improving air quality and biodiversity
  • Strengthening climate resilience to extreme weather
  • Reinforcing Sandyford Business District as a destination to live in, work in and visit

A park shaped by people

The design has been informed by extensive engagement with stakeholders through workshops, surveys and consultations.
Key features include…

  • Inclusive play and recreation areas
  • Biodiversity-rich planting
  • Walking and cycling connections
  • Flexible social spaces
  • Sustainable water management
  • Low-impact construction and re-use of materials

The result is a park designed around the needs and aspirations of the community - inclusive, accessible and welcoming for ALL.

Investment in future infrastructure

€10 million has been awarded to the project under the Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund (HIF) Call 1, with funding linked to housing activation. This reflects the importance of aligning development with essential social infrastructure such as parks and schools.

A shared vision

Sandyford Civic Park is a long-term investment in a greener, healthier and more climate-resilient district, supporting wellbeing, economic growth and community life.
