Zigong Delegation Visits Sandyford Business District to Foster Ties in Innovation and Sustainability

Yesterday Sandyford Business District, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Economic Development, An Cathaoirleach Cllr Jim Gildea, Leas Chathaoirleach Cllr. Pierce Dargan and representatives from Henderson Park welcomed a delegation from the CPC Zigong Municipal Committee, who visited to explore collaboration across several key areas, including climate action and decarbonisation, education, cultural and community engagement and tourism development


SBD CEO Ger Corbett highlighted the strengths of Sandyford Business District — a thriving hub where indigenous and multinational companies employ over 26,000 people, coexisting alongside a residential community of 6,000 residents.

The delegation learned about SBD’s extensive network of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with national and international educational and business institutions. They also expressed strong interest in the European Association of Business Districts, recognising its role in fostering best-in-class collaboration across Europe.

Mr. Zeng Hongyang, Secretary of the CPC Zigong Municipal Committee, acknowledged the many synergies between both regions and identified significant opportunities for future cooperation in areas such as technology, innovation, education, decarbonisation, and cultural exchange.
