SBD supports nature and biodiversity in the district

SBD supports nature and biodiversity in the district

We are continuing to create pockets across the district to help people connect with nature and support biodiversity

Recent successes include

  • The Pocket Forest in Naomh Ólaf GAA club where we planted over 400 trees earlier this year
  • Blackthorn Park: new park and children’s playground
  • Bracken Park: pocket park with yellow canopies for shelter, picnic tables and benches, planting and the council’s art piece Scéal Trail (story trail) especially for children
  • South County Park: pocket park at the entrance with water feature and wildflower meadows

In addition to that we also look after

  • Landscaping: a variety of landscaping projects including herbaceous borders, over 10 new flower beds created in Stillorgan Business Park.
  • A variety of insect hotels surrounded by bee friendly plantings
  • Maintenance: to augment the council’s services provided, we continuously maintain grass verges, conduct tree maintenance and collect litter as part of an ongoing supplementary maintenance programme
