Have Your Say: Local Property Tax Adjustment: Submissions Due by 19th June

An important opportunity for your business to have its say on the Local Property Tax (LPT) adjustment factor, currently under public consultation by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (DLRCC).
The consultation opened on 21st May and closes on Wednesday, 19th June 2025. A decision will be made by the Council on 7th July.
At its recent meeting, the Board of Sandyford Business District (SBD) discussed the proposed variation and agreed to recommend NO increase OR decrease in the current rate.
It is crucial that every business understands the impact of this decision. The Council has consistently applied a 15% reduction to the LPT rate each year. While this may appear positive for households, in 2025 this reduction is estimated to have reduced the Council’s income by €9.5 million, resulting in a budget deficit—which has been offset by increased commercial rates.
This has direct and significant consequences for every ratepayer in The District, with commercial rates already a major overhead for most businesses.
A summary of LPT decisions taken by all 31 local authorities last year shows:
• 18 councils increased by 15%
• 1 increased by 12%
• 4 increased by 10%
• 1 increased by 6%
• 1 increased by 5%
• 2 made no change
• 1 decreased by 7.5%
• 3 decreased by 15% (South Dublin, Dublin City, and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown)
As part of our advocacy role—A Strong Voice for the District—we urge you to make a submission. Once this vote is taken in isolation from the full Council budget, it can have serious implications, especially if commercial rates must be increased again to bridge any funding gaps.
