SBD Launches Work a Day in My Shoes Initiative: Killian’s Coffee
Last week, Ger Corbett, CEO of Sandyford Business District spent the day behind the counter at Killians Coffee. This kicked off the beginning of SBD’s “Work a Day in My Shoes” initiative.
Working side by side with the team allowed Ger to learn more about the challenges faced by small businesses in the hospitality sector:
• Rising costs & tighter margins.
• Reduced customer spend as coffee becomes more of a “treat”.
• Higher expectations around coffee, leading to a need for more training & high quality ingredients.
• Practical issues specific to Killian’s coffee such as poor internet access.
Together, they discussed how SBD can best support Killians Coffee, with key opportunities including:
• Boosting brand & location awareness across The District.
• Connecting Killian’s Coffee with multinationals, local businesses & residents.
• Exposure at SBD Events such as Culture Night 2025.
• Developing long term solutions for practical issues by connecting with relevant stakeholders.
• Utilising SBD’s Digital Sign and ‘In The Loop’ Newsletter.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Killian for allowing Ger to work a day in his shoes, and for taking the time to discuss his experiences as a small business in the hospitality sector. His expertise, passion, and hospitality are truly unmatched!
