Stakeholders Lunch 2026
Yesterday’s Stakeholders’ Lunch marked the official launch of Sandyford Business District’s Plebiscite campaign, bringing together business leaders & key stakeholders from across the district to hear about the significant initiatives & projects delivered by SBD to date along with our vision & future plans for the continued development of the district
CEO Ger Corbett welcomed guests & spoke about the upcoming Plebiscite highlighting the importance of renewing the company for a third term to support the district’s ongoing growth & competitiveness
With ballot papers due to be issued by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council on May 19th & returned by June 18th he encouraged businesses throughout to watch out for their ballot papers & make their vote count. He also outlined the key benefits of renewing the company & the rationale for voting yes
Ger thanked the many organisations across the district who contributed video testimonials in support of our renewal for a third term. These can be viewed on https://lnkd.in/dcJqv7wD
He then introduced a special video message from An Taoiseach Micheál Martin who praised the significant contribution of SBD to Ireland’s economy, highlighting its role as a centre for business, innovation, employment & investment. He noted that the district’s continued growth reflects both Ireland’s strength as a location for enterprise & the ambition of those leading it. The Taoiseach also welcomed plans for the new Innovation Campus in Sandyford describing it as an important initiative that will foster collaboration, attract advanced innovation & further strengthen Ireland’s international reputation in research, technology & enterprise
In addition he recognised SBD’s role in co-founding the European Association of Business Innovation Districts (EABID) launched in Brussels in March noting that it demonstrates Ireland’s growing influence and collaboration at a European level.
He thanked SBD for its leadership, vision & commitment stating that its work benefits not only businesses locally, but also Ireland’s wider economy & international standing
An Cathaoirleach Cllr Jim Gildea highlighted the importance of renewal & the strong relationships built by the SBD team with DLR & wider stakeholders supporting the district’s continued growth, noting DLR would not be able to focus on the district as directly, nor would it have the targeted funding required to sustain the current level of work, ambition & impact
We were delighted to be joined by Bernard Jackman & RTE’s Jacqui Hurley for an entertaining Q&A session
Thanks to Leopardstown Racecourse for the stunning venue & to Levy for the wonderful catering & service.
SBD looks forward to continued support from the business community in the weeks ahead as we continue to strengthen the district as a thriving destination for employers, businesses, employees & residents while supporting foreign direct investment, indigenous enterprise & future-focused innovation.
